Visiting the School
Parents are always welcome at MS104. You must have an ID to sign in at the security desk to gain admission to the school. In order to make the visit more productive, parents are required to make an appointment with the teacher or administrator with whom they would like to meet. Parents may call the Main Office, Parent Coordinator or send a note with their child to make an appointment.

Attendance & Absences
Parents who know that their child will be absent are asked to advise the school in advance. Please contact pupil accounting secretary Jen Yak at PYak@schools.nyc.gov and your child’s teachers via Jupiter. Parents should provide a doctor's note for all medically excused absences.

If a student is absent for two consecutive days, a member of the MS104 team will contact home.

Early Dismissal
Students may not be dismissed early without being picked up by an adult that is listed on the emergency contact form. If you need to dismiss your child early, please contact pupil accounting secretary Jennifer Yak at PYak@schools.nyc.gov with any questions.

Lateness
Any student arriving late must enter through the Main Lobby on 21st Street, sign in the Late Student Log and pick up a Late Pass. Those who are late will not be allowed to enter class without this pass.

Students who do not arrive to homeroom on time will be marked as absent. If they arrive late to school, this update will be made to their records later in the day. However, the DOE Messenger system will send automated messages to all families that did not arrive to school on time as it the system pulls from the morning homeroom attendance record. If you receive a message that your child is absent from school and believe this is in error, you may contact the main office to confirm that your child is in school.

Breakfast
Breakfast is available starting at 7:45am in the cafeteria. Students may enter on 21st street.

Lunch & Recess
MS104 students may enjoy lunch in the cafeteria or our yard. Students can use this time to visit teachers during office hours to make-up work or ask questions. Students may also take the "library bus" to visit the library during the lunch/recess period. MS104 does not permit "out lunch".
In inclement weather, students may use the gym and auditorium during lunch.

Cell Phone & Internet-Enabled Electronic Devices
State law prohibits student use of personal internet-enabled electronic devices during the school day. Schools are required to communicate their plans regarding this policy to their school community prior to the start of the school year.
Please click here to access our school's policy for the 2025-26 school year. The policy includes details of our plan for storage of personal internet-enabled devices during the school day (Yondr Pouch System), under what circumstances students can access their devices, exceptions to the policy, replacement fees for lost or damaged pouches, disciplinary interventions for violations of the policy, and information on how to contact your child in the case of an emergency.

Baruch Blast
In order to stay in touch, Principal Macri and the MS104 PTA sends out an email newsletter called the Baruch Blast weekly during the school year. The Baruch Blast is not the only means of communication for the school but is the primary way to help families keep up-to-date with what is happening. To register, click HERE, fill in your personal information, and choose the e-mail list for your child's grade.
